Campus History

Built between 1861 and 1866, following Napoléon III's will to have Cherbourg be the largest french military harbor, the René Lebas Navy Hospital covered 323,000 square feet with 22 different buildings, including a chapel, a prison and a morgue. It is enclosed in a park located in the heart of the city.
The hospital was decommissioned in 2002 following budget cuts.
The site is then renovated and transformed to give birth to a new TV/Film center in 2003, hosting various production houses, a Theatre company and shooting and educational facilities such as IMC Normandie.
